Ford plans to take advantage of Free Trade Agreement between India and Thailand to introduce the most fabulous small car in India
Nita Singh
Nov. 17, 2007

The Free Trade Agreement between India and Thailand can allow Ford to introduce a small car Mazda 2 in India imported from Thailand. The car will be exported into India from the car plant in Thailand in alliance with Japanese automobile company Mazda. Ford owns 33% of Mazda – a minority share holder. This will be the first car in India that can have the features available in US and UK.

The joint venture, called AutoAlliance Thailand, will make compact cars starting 2009 for the domestic and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) markets. The Mazda2 is already available in the US and the UK.
