Dilip Vengsarkar has been asked not to write columns in the newspapers as long as he is chief selector but fans want him to write about selection – lack of transparency?

Cricket fans in India want Dilip Vengsarkar to write columns in the newspapers about performance of cricketers and criteria of team selection.
BCCI says Vengsarkar should keep his comments and suggestion to himself. The board has also placed a gag order on players during the series against Pakistan starting on Monday after an acrimonious series against Australia last month.
The players often make aggressive statements. BCCI wants an end of that.
The question arises from the standpoint of transparency. If players and selectors cannot communicate with ‘cricket fans’ of India, Indian cricket will suffer. Transparency and openness in a democratic environment is essential.
It is interesting that the same day Musharraf declared emergency in Pakistan, BCCI proclaimed a gag order on players and selectors.
