Do not get surprised if you see Shoaib Akhtar in Indian cricket team in a few years
Tania Sengupta
Oct. 14, 2007

It is golden opportunity to give a ‘welcome home’ and South Asian solidarity when Indian cricket league receives Shoaib Akhtar. According to some analysts, Shoaib Akhtar may even be in Indian squad if he likes to play cricket. That may not happen overnight as Akhtar considers himself a Pakistani first. But things can change when he comes and plays in India and likes India.

"After I received permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board, I have signed a contract to play for the Indian Premier League and it will be an honor to play in India," Akhtar told AFP.

Akhtar signed a contract with IPL the rival of ICL.

Akhtar for now says, "My goal is to play for Pakistan and help them win in India. That comes first and after that it will be exciting to play in the league."

But when he plays in India and likes the openness of Indian culture, things will be different. Inzammam has already decided to play for ICL.

The trend is interesting. It will be cricket that will bring the two countries back.
