Myanmar ball is in China’s court – no matter what China says on UN’s mission

China is a close partner of the Myanmar Junta. They are Myanmar’s biggest trade partner and investor. No one has more influence on Myanmar than China.
China’s quiet posture was note worthy. Now China says UN envoy was successful Myanmar. But the fact is freedom is suppressed in Myanmar. For China this is nothing new. But the free world cannot accept this behavior.
The Myanmar junta needs to be prosecuted for its atrocities. China is interested in keeping the status quo. Like in North Korea, China wants to bring some resolution keeping the junta intact that severs well for Chinese interests.
US First Lady Laura Bush criticized the Myanmar Juhta. She is correct. The Junta must go. There is a limit to torture of common people. China expects the matter to settle quietly. No matter how much it praises the UN envoy, Myanmar needs justice.
China’s interest in Myanmar centers on natural gas reserve. But the genocide in Myanmar is beyond the reach of Chinese interests.
China can very easily bring justice in Myanmar. The problem is that Chinese leaders treat Myanmar as another ‘Tibet’.
