Saudis show little mercy for Democracy in South Asia urging Nawaz Sharif not to return home
Balaji Reddy
Sep. 8, 2007
Do not listen to the oilmen of Saudi Arabia. They hate democracies no matter what they do with America. It was no surprise for these Saudis to come and warn exiled former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to return home.
Sharif's party, however, rejected the initiative as foreign meddling and insisted Sharif will fly in from London on Monday to counter President Gen Pervez Musharraf's re-election bid, despite threats that he will be put back in jail.
The point is simple, the treacherous dictator Musharraf of Pakistan forced Sharif to promise. Any one will opt to promise anything if the alternative is death. But in reality, it is Musharraf who is afraid of a democratically elected PM of Pakistan - not Sherrif.
