Sources say it may be dramatic to see how Musharraf finally faces the reality - the leader he ousted through a military coup.

Sharif and his brother Shahbaz along with a contingent of journalists will leave here tomorrow night and plan to reach Islamabad on Monday afternoon, sources close to the Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader said.

Thousands of supporters plan to converge in Islamabad to welcome Sharif who has announced that he will return from the seven-year exile on September 10, throwing a challenge to embattled President Musharraf, who is seeking re-election.

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore charged Shahbaz Sharif with ordering police to kill five men in the city in 1998. At the time of the killings, Shahbaz was the chief minister of Punjab province.

Nawaz Sharif also faces corruption charges, linked to bank loans and property. Court hearings had been adjourned for years, but were reopened late last month following an application by the government.

A judge in Rawalpindi adjourned the case until Sept 13 to ensure that the next hearing takes place after Sharif returns. Police have also detained hundreds of the brothers'' supporters
