Indian Parliament’s privileges committee ready to challenge Ronen Sen's (Indian ambassador to US) sanity and ''headless chicken'' comment
It is a shame that India did not fire this insane envoy of India who called Indian politicians opposing 123-nuke agreement with America ‘headless chickens’. This guy should work for a dictator like Musharraf and not for a democracy like India.
Speaker of Indian Parliament Somnath Chatterjee has referred the issue after receipt of a reply by the External Affairs Ministry to which Sen had expressed unqualified apology for the remarks. The Ministry had pleaded that in view of the unqualified apology tendered by him, the matter be closed.
You just cannot stab a man and then say ‘sorry’. This is exactly what ‘insane’ Ronen has done. If he could not stand for what he says, he should resign. Else, Indian Government should strip all his diplomatic credential and fire him from the position.
Sources said in view of the strong feelings of the MPs on the issue, the Speaker had referred it to the privileges committee headed by Congress MP V Kishorechandra Suryanarayan Deo.
The sources said the committee is likely to call the MPs, who had given the notice of privilege motion against Sen and probably the representatives of the media, which had published the remarks. After going through the evidence collected, the committee may, if necessary, call Sen for getting his version.
At the height of the controversy over the opposition to the nuclear deal from Left and opposition parties, Sen had used the phrase "headless chickens" to describe those commenting against the deal.
The bigger question is, can Ronen’s “headless chickens” rise up and fire Ronen to prove they still have some head left for Indian politics?
