Iran refuses to stop nuke development in exchange of entry to World Trade Organization
Prithvi Joshi
Mar. 5, 2005

Iran today refused an offer from the European Union today that offered Iran an entry to the World Trade Center in exchange of Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Iranian Commerce Minister Mohammad Shariatmadari said that an EU proposal to allow Iran to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) would not be an incentive for Tehran to abandon its uranium enrichment program. In a statement to Iranian student news agency ISNA, Shariatmadari said that Iran's joining the WTO would only benefit the United States and the European Union by giving them freer access to Iran's economy, adding that Iran is unwilling to join the WTO "under the current circumstances."

The Bush Administration has made it very clear to EU and the Iranians that America will not tolerate Iran’s enhanced nuclear ambitions.

Iran recently entered into an agreement with the Russians for the operational use of nuclear power generators. The Europeans are trying to push Teheran into a situation that makes Bush Administration happy.

Iran is adamant on her perceived independence in the matter of nuclear power generation and more.
