Syria to get out of Lebanon international peace keepers to take control for law and order
Syrians are feeling pressure from all sides to get out of Lebanon. Sources say it is inevitable and will happen way before you anticipate.
Pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud is in the process of making a tough decision on what he can and will do. The opposition wants Syria out and the President to accept the popular demands before any negotiation.
Bush Administration is calling for international peacekeepers to move in and take control of law and order. The only problem right now is the 60,000 strong Hizbullah militia controlled by Syrians.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told Time magazine in an interview published this week that Syria's 14,000 troops might pull out of Lebanon in the next few months, with the timing technical, not political. Syrians will try to flex all kinds of mussels and silent diplomacy to linger and stay in Lebanon. Even if the Syrian Army leaves with 14,000 strong men, the Hizbullah militia will be asked to continue Syrian presence.
Speaker of Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri said after talks with President Emile Lahoud that contacts were under way on how the president would consult deputies on naming a prime minister-designate. The two men have close links to Syria. "I was the first to warn against stepping into (a power) vacuum. Now everyone has to rise to the level of their national duty," Berri told reporters.
A phase of hasty negotiations is being predicted and UN will get involved. The opposition will continue pressing for its democratic pressures.
What is booming as of today is triumph of Democracy. Everywhere all over the world.
