Ukraine in need of cash plans to sell sophisticated Soviet era Arms to China, India and Iran – the impact on the new world order
Balaji Reddy
Mar. 1, 2005

For quite some time, Ukraine was complaining about shortage of resources and cash. Long on U.S. political support but short on cash after the Orange Revolution, the Ukrainian government has decided to pursue an official program of selling weapons to bolster the economy. Kiev will begin by selling dual-use weaponry, but chief among its potential customers are states such as Iran, China and India. The United States will not be happy about this development, but Ukraine must have cash if it is to remain viable, and arms sales are its quickest way to make money.

What is its effect on the new world order? Sources tell us that Russians removed most of the sophisticated weapons from Ukraine before the recent election debacle. In addition, neither China, India nor Iran need to go to Ukraine to obtain these Soviet era Arms. India and China, with their record foreign exchange reserves are directly negotiating sophisticated 2005 era arms with the Russians.

Then really it seems Venezuela, Iran, Syria, North Korea and some other countries are the main probable recipients of these arms. Most likely these arms can also go into the hands of Al-Queda and other extremists and Jihadists through so called “Axis of Evil” states.

It will be interesting to watch what America does to prevent Ukraine its newest ally from stopping the sell of Arms to these countries.

There are also rumors that the Chechens may get hold of these Arms too through some other countries. Russians will not like that either.

What Ukraine is planning or rather being forced to plan to do is not really good for the Americans or the Russians. These Arms will eventually fall into the hands of the terrorists because no country’s real Army will favor these old arms.

While Ukraine needs money, there must be some other way of providing some money to that country. It has a large technical population and computer scientists. May be India can help in subcontracting some of the outsourcing contracts to Ukraine with strong supervision to help that country avoid ridiculous Arm sells which will eventually help the terrorists.
