The legacy goes on – America tried to instigate China in attacking India in 1971 – any different than using Saddam against Iran and then killing him?

Jul. 1, 2007

America's far right in 1971 tried to teach a lesson to India by instigating China to attack India during Bangladesh liberation war. Now the same people are scared to have India-China form a NATO like Asian alliance. Former US President Richard Nixon hated Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after Gandhi in New York refused to skip Zubin Mehata’s Phil Harmonic performance for a meeting with the US President.

Nixon's infamous tilt towards Pakistan is well known but the facts reveal many other facets of how Nixon and Kissinger were upset with India, and how they tried to rope in China in a bid to prevent the formation of Bangladesh.

Nixon describes Indians as ‘a slippery, treacherous people’ and his National Security Adviser calls the Indians ‘insufferably arrogant’.

It was ironic when the same far right that elected current US President George Bush is eager to have a nuclear deal with India. Indian politicians are shrewd. They look back and realize that America is an opportunist country. That is why they are a superpower. They would do anything; have anyone do anything to fulfill their international goals and policies. The refection is in Vietnam. The echoes are in Iraq. The fall out resonates in Wolfowitz scandal in World Bank. Think for a minute, the same far right of America that used Saddam to teach a lesson to Iran finally took Iraq and killed the ‘butcher of Baghdad’. Saddam was a bad guy. American knew it in the eighties and they know it now. But they used him and threw him in the shackles. They lied to the world in order to do it. The legacy goes on. The far right of America will do anything to get their end.

Americans have a lot to learn about the reality in geopolitics. The far right needs to learn world history and geography. America’s biggest problem lies in not enough education about the world. The middle school and high school curriculums are void of world history and geography. So is in high school curriculum. Otherwise why would Nixon go and beg to China to attack India? Why would George Bush send Collin Powell to UN to lie to whole world and get totally clobbered in Iraq? Why does it take a new American President commit mistake after mistake for eight years to learn and understand the geopolitics of the world?
