Soaring Chinese trade surplus is a signature of failed Bush trade policy for dealing with China
Marla Guthrie
Jun. 11, 2007
He was tough on Saddam. He is equally lax with China. The Bush Administration has failed to deal with the Chinese effectively. Since 1980, China has successfully fooled every American Administration. They violated intellectual property rights, they dumped goods and services on the American markets, and they have taken millions of middle-class American jobs. Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Bush Jr.; none of them did much to deal with the Chinese effectively.
China's trade surplus rose a bigger than the estimated 73 percent in May from a year earlier, increasing pressure on the government to allow faster currency gains.
The gap widened to $22.45 billion, the customs bureau said on its Web site. The median estimate of 18 economists surveyed by Bloomberg News was for a $19.5 billion surplus. For the first five months, the surplus grew 84 percent to $85.72 billion.
The reason for not dealing with China effectively on the trade issue may be simple. The people who provided political contributions to all these Administrations do not want to deal with China. They make big money making goods in China with slave labor and bring them to US and sell them for big profit.
