It can be a disaster for world peace. Most hardcore missile technologists know that the proposed missile defense does not really work against the Russian missiles especially in the short range. But it is a posture that Americans especially Bush has taken to show Russia that America can do what it likes in the world. Bringing in Iran in the equation is ridiculous. The fact is Bush wanted to tell the whole that America may have virtually lost in Iraq but it is ‘the’ superpower and look what it can do on the nose of Russia.

Russian response till this date has been in words. They took the beating in Iraq. They took the beating in Ukraine. They took it on the chin the Eastern Europe. Putin is clear about missile defense in Eastern Europe. Americans are eager to use the Eastern Europeans especially countries like Poland who are ready to serve the ‘American’ at any cost.

Russia now plans to take the cold war arms race into space. American budget deficit and lack of oil resource will make it difficult if not impossible to compete with Russia in space militarily. Both sides know war is not an option. But is just a show of case.

Unfortunately, people in America and Russia will have to pay the price by having a lowered standard of living. Americans face higher debt just to pay their everyday bill and Russians face shortage of essential commodities.
