Nepal needs India badly to defeat the Maoists – can India afford not to help?

Nepal needs India badly. The Maoists are the greatest winner if the current cold relations between India and Nepal persist.

A Nepalese army spokesman said he is disappointed by the cessation of Indian and British military aid to Nepal following King Gyanendra's dismissal of the government. He said such action would help Maoist guerrillas.

India’s official stance is questionable. Can India really afford not to help? What is the scenario if the Maoists take over the country? The neighborhood in the Northern Hindu country can be a nightmare for India.

According to sources, the Maoists are planning a massive offensive that may finally cause the King of Nepal call for Indian Army in the kingdom. And at that time a negative propaganda will work against India in the whole of Nepal orchestrated by the Maoists.

To avoid this India needs to resume the military and strategic help to the kingdom and help capture the disruptive Maoists.
