The developing world challenges US to open up World Bank job – will Ameirca allow merit above its ego and non-progressive policies?
Sonal Joshi
May 23, 2007

The World Bank has lost its credibility.  The development bank has been used as a foreign policy infrastructurte of the United States.  The President of the bank has a scandalous disgraceful departure.  Unierd States selects World Bank President on its own without any considertation to tranparency in the sleection process.  Merit is not always the criteria.  It is who America wants to lead the World Bank.

Things are changing.  The developing world is adament not to allow any more American one sided selection of World Bank Presidents.  America quietly argues that most of the funds come from US so US will select the President of the Bank.  The developing world is saying, in that case dismantle World Bank because the development bank cannot be used as a foreign policy tool.

Brazil’s representative at the World Bank on Tuesday challenged the tradition by which the US decides who will be the bank’s president.  The developing world say the World Bank board be allowed to chose between more than one candidate, based on merit.

American response is not clear yet.  The largest democracy and the only super power is trying to recover from the scandal of its nominee in the development bank.
will Ameirca allow merit above its ego and non-progressive policies?
