Sonia promises Bihar a ''''new future'''' – can she really deliver with Lalu’s shadow on her face?
In an election rally Sonia made an appeal to the people of Bihar to elect her party and bring a new start to Bihar. But she perhaps forgot the dark spot of her Government – the Lalu’s shadow hovering around her party and infrastructure.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi Saturday asked the people of Bihar to help install a secular government led by her party and build a new future for the state.
Addressing an election rally here, Gandhi said the Congress, if given a chance, would form a "powerful secular government with the support of secular parties".
Such a government would rid Bihar of crime, corruption and backwardness, she said. It would pave the way for huge investments in the state. Without naming the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Gandhi criticised the law and order and poor development in Bihar.
"I am here to seek your support for the Congress in the assembly elections so that we build a new future for Bihar," she said.
"The Congress wants to bring back peace, prosperity and all round development," said Gandhi.
She told the people that agriculture; education, health and industries were developed only during the Congress rule in Bihar before 1990. Gandhi said the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal-United had nothing to do with the people's problems.
"We are against the BJP's communal politics because it doesn’t care for all the people of India," she said.
"A country is made through sacrifices," Gandhi said, mentioning former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
