Boundless rising prices and 'soft approach'' on terrorism root cause of the route of Sonia Gandhi's Congress party
With the Congress suffering a severe drubbing in the MCD polls, BJP today said people are rejecting it across the country for its "failure" to control rising prices and "soft approach" on terrorism.
BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley said people across the country were getting disillusioned with the Congress for due to price rice, hike in interest rates that have "burdened the aam aadmi (common man)."
Listing Congress'' string of defeats in Jharkhand, Bihar, Punjab, Uttarakhand, he said "it is ironical that an economist Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should mismanage the economy to such an extent that his party loses series of elections."
He accused the Congress of misgovernance at the local level cost it dearly at the hustings.
"There was triple anti-incumbency against the Congress, the central government, state government and the local municipal administration," he said.
"You have demolition and sealing and for two years in a row you bring the life of a city to a standstill. You lack the statecraft to resolve issues, I think that is the Congress undoing," Jaitley said.
