Powerful politicians and major industrialists all over India involved in high profile prostitution rackets
Politicians and major industrialists all over India are involved in high profile prostitution rackets. According to some of the police officers that like to talk on anonymity, the numbers of these rackets are increasing every day.
These politicians and major industrialists are the major clients and “protectors” of these rackets. In recent days they have even started running their own “enterprises”. The amount of money floating in Indian in the hands of these rackets are staggering. They are even dealing with foreign currency when the surging numbers of Westerners, Southeast Asian and Japanese businessmen as well as Middle East’s rich and privileged visit the country.
Delhi Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a high-profile prostitution racket with foreign links by arresting a woman.
A decoy customer struck a deal for an "ultra modern, exceptionally beautiful" woman by contacting a telephone number in a newspaper advertisement. The woman was arrested from a hotel when she arrived for the appointment, a police statement said.
After questioning her, police officials said she was allegedly one of the costliest sex workers in the business and charged up to Rs. 100,000 (about 2,300 dollars), of which the pimp got 20 to 40 percent as commission.
Though the man who ran the racket is yet to be arrested, he has been identified, the statement said. The woman, who said she was preparing for a national beauty contest, had visited major Indian cities and countries like Singapore, Hong Kong and Canada with her clients.
She said all women involved in the prostitution ring were screened through a personal meeting with the "boss" who masterminded the racket, who rarely met them later or disclosed his whereabouts.
According to sources in Delhi, the number of similar rackets in Delhi exceeds thousands. Mumbai and Bangalore are not far behind either.
