Indian Government must stop fake encounters all over India not just Jammu and Kashmir
Special Correspondent
Feb. 4, 2007

It is a typical tactics Congress Party and the Communists use to neutralize the opposition. In Kashmir the security forces are caught red handed. But it has happened in Assam, West Bengal, and almost all non-Hindi speaking states.

The bodies of Ghulam Nabi Wani, 42, Showkat Ahmad Kataria, 25, and Ali Mohammad Padder, 33, killed in fake encounters by Special Operation Group (SOG) on the outskirts of Srinagar were exhumed by police and later handed over to their family members after their samples were collected for DNA matching by the forensic experts, today.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal Hans Raj Parihar and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Bahadur Ram who were attached with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in connection with the fake encounters were formally arrested at around 10:00 AM today.

Meanwhile, the body of Ghulam Nabi was exhumed from Lone Mohalla-Ajas-Bandipore which is 45 kilometers away from Srinagar, Showkat Ahmad from Bazipora-Ajas and Ali Mohammad from Kangan 40 kilometers away from Srinagar. Over 25,000 people staged protest demonstration at the sites at Ajas, Bazipora and Kangan, rising anti SOG and pro freedom slogans continuously even after the bodies were handed over to their family members. All the three areas observed a complete strike and people were seen marching towards the sites since early in the morning.
