Viacom decision on YouTube may be the start of end of user generated video sites because of legal implications

The biggest question is – can anyone tale someone else’s video and post it on the Web without taking permission of the person who may be in a compromised position. For example, a person slips in the road and some one else takes a video of that posts on YouTube. Is that really legal without taking permission from the person who slipped?

Viacom, the owner of MTV, demanded that all its clips be removed from the user-generated YouTube. The clips are digital property of Viacom. The problem with user genrated sites is as follows : White it provides easy streams of money without much work for the Web site owner, in essence it is unfair. The legality of the statements, clips and more is in question too.

It can have some implications on many Web sites. The drag on stocks like Google and others can be heavy.
