Musharraf fires up on Kashmir again, India indifferent
Musharraf again fired up in Kashmir asking India to implement plebiscite in Kashmir. According to sources India is indifferent. Musharraf needs to frown on Kashmir from time to time to keep himself in power. India understands the situation and does not reply to make matter any worse for both the nations.
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday stressed the need for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN resolutions, online news agency reports. On the eve of Kashmir Solidarity Day, Musharraf and Aziz reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to the Kashmir issue.
"Pakistan's support for the just Kashmiri cause is based not only on the bonds of kinship, but accords fully with our obligations and responsibility under international law, the UN charter and principles and relevant Security Council resolutions," Musharraf said.
Musharraf's reference to the solution of the Kashmir issue in line with UN resolutions marked a departure from recent statements by Pakistani leaders, who had refrained from harping on the world body's call for holding a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the people of Pakistan observed the day by reaffirming their support for the "legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for the exercise of their inalienable right of self determination".
Musharraf said Pakistan had initiated a composite dialogue with India as it wanted a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute. He noted that Pakistan believed the people of Jammu and Kashmir were "the main party to the dispute" and had stressed for their inclusion in the peace talks.
"On this occasion I would like to reiterate that we would never back away from our Kashmir cause and would continue to extend our support for their liberation," Musharraf said.
Aziz, in a separate message, said: "Pakistan has always emphasised the necessity of a meaningful and constructive dialogue to resolve the Kashmir dispute. "We have said time and again, that rigidity and repression must give way to accommodation and respect for the fundamental and inalienable rights of the Kashmiris." POLITICAL ARTICLES
