Nepal King rejects India’s call for democratic election – election only after Maoists are defeated

Nepal's newly appointed Foreign Minister Ramesh Nath Pandey said thet there will be no election in Nepal till the Maoist problem is solved. Nepal rejected India’s request for election this year.
King Gyanendra of Nepal took control of power last week to take the country back from corrupt politicians and the insurgent Maoists. At a meeting chaired by King Gyanendra, the Cabinet adopted a 21-point socio-economic program for promoting good governance, fighting graft and ensuring economic growth. India’s foreign minister Natwar Singh requested King of Nepal to hold election in 2005.
The Nepali Army is moving fast to take control over the Maoists in the countryside. The Maoists are quietly preparing for a solid showdown.
According to sources, King Gyanendra of Nepal is also thinking about asking help from the United Nation.
