What Shilpa faces today, expatriate NRI Indians face that every day – money and glory associated with living in the West comes with big humiliation
Balaji Reddy
Jan. 17, 2007

It is interesting to note, India is all on a sudden conscious about ‘racism’ on Shipla Shetty, one of India’s own from Bollywood. Asserting that India has throughout rejected all forms of racism, the Govt has said it will look into every aspect of the alleged attacks on actress Shilpa Shetty on a UK TV show.

However, India and Indian Government that milks the expatriates (called NRIs) everyday for cash, should realize, what Shilpa faces today, expatriate NRI Indians face that every day. If you try to excel in Western nations, you will face anger and outright insult. You can call it racism, groupism, classism …. It does not matter, it is there. A person with brown color skin has no problem getting a low end job. But if they become famous, all hell fall on them.

It is important because Government of India and native Indians should understand how painful it is for the expatriate NRIs to bear the racism on one hand and milking attitude of India on the other.
