A buying opportunity for Health-insurance providers and drugmakers
Joe Weinman
Nov. 8, 2006

The temporary drop in price related to landslide win by Democrats is just a buying opportunity. Shares of Humana Inc., the second-largest provider of Medicare drug benefits, dropped as much as 8 percent. New York-based Pfizer Inc., the world's biggest drugmaker, fell as much as 4 percent, while Schering-Plough Corp. declined as much as 5 percent.

The expectation is that the drugmakers will be forced to compete. That is true. That was coming from many other directions like WalMart selling generics for $4 anyway. This is a pure buying opportunity. The demographics with baby boomers retiring will keep these stocks going up on the long run.

Long term fundamentals provide a solid buying opportunity to buy these stocks as they fall off from the scare effect now.

Health-insurance providers and drugmakers have nothing to worry on the long run.
