What Microsoft did to computers in 80s is what Google is doing to media industry - Nearly every major U.S. newspaper suffering circulation declines
Peter Oberois
Oct. 31, 2006

Online news sites and blogs replacing US Newspapers, radio and TV stations – the decline is sharp and severe.

A new online revolution has taken place. The so called established media is losing the game and is expected to suffer 5 to 10% every year in the next 10 years. The traditional media will survive eventually as on tenth of what it is today.

Nearly every major U.S. newspaper suffered circulation declines in the past six months. The trend is expected to accelerate.

Google’s revenue and net profit in the mean time keep rising. The small Internet website publishers will form their own consortium to challenge Google, Yahoo and others in terms of their revenue share percentage.

What Microsoft did to computers in 80s is what Google is doing to media industry. It has empowered common people to start publishing sites that earn money. It is the new freedom people were looking for a long time.
