America paid $6.64 billion to Pakistan Pakistan and other cooperating nations to stop terrorism - did it really work?
Ratan Surin
Oct. 30, 2006

$6.64 billion had been appropriated for FY2002-FY2007 Defense Department spending for coalition support payments to Pakistan and other cooperating nations. The biggest question is – did that really work. What did Pakistan do about Osama Bin Laden? What did all these cooperating nations do with all that free money from hard working American taxpayers?
Why then we do not have Al-Quaida rounded up? Why is Pakistan allowing the terror elements hide and operate in its Northwestern Tribal area? Why is Pakistan still nurturing terrorists in its main streets? Was this money a sort of bribe? How much did Musharraf get and where did he keep it? How much did Pakistan’s other generals get?
That is the million dollar question the voters in America will answer on November 7th. As an Indian American I am puzzled by the report and the amount. I worked hard to pay my taxes. But this is what happened to my hard earned tax dollar? Can any one account for $6.64 billion transferred to these countries?
It is not about Republican versus Democrats issue. The issue goes far beyond. Does America have to deal with these nations? Why can a straight ultimatum not work?
