US is adding a person every eleven seconds, an immigrant every 31 seconds, the population is at 300 million – real estate boom?
Paula Zubeda
Oct. 17, 2006

The recent census bureau report is interesting. In the middle of all gloom and doom in real estate, the population demographics in America is showing prospects of continuing real estate boom.

American population is crossing the 300 million mark. US is adding a person every eleven seconds, an immigrant every 31 seconds. The population has risen 200 million to 300 million in just 35 years. When you take the demographic distribution over time, the correlation clearly maps the real estate boom in the last thirty-five years. The log scale provides exact match.

By 2046, US population will reach a staggering 400 million. While ethnic diversity will add, so will scarcity of real estate.

Immigrants are the biggest incoming population. The death rates are low and every seven seconds a new baby is born in US.

When you take these to analytics and quantitative models, you can easily find the future of real estate market. The entry-level market will quadruple in the next thirty years. The single family home will at least triple in the same period.

After this slump is housing, the real estate market will start booming again. The demographic distribution over time says, the big move upwards is actually infront of us not behind us.
