The militants in Kashmir used Hezbollah tactics to hide behind the general public and cause maximum damage to security forces - Indian security forces took casualties to protect civilian.

The bigegst differbce is that evry Kashmiri is first an Indian and must be protected at any cost.

According to media reports, Director General of Police (DGP) Gopal Sharma today said that the police and the security forces suffered heavy casualties in the Lal Chowk encounter since they wanted to avoid collateral damage while the encounter was in progress.

"Our jawans turned out to be heroes since they sacrificed their own lives in order to ensure that no damage is caused to the civilians when the encounter started. The police as well as security forces jawans exercised maximum restraint during the encounter and it is due to this that five police jawans and two CRPF personnel have been killed in the encounter", said Sharma while talking to media persons after laying floral wreaths at the coffins of the police jawans who were killed in the 27 hour long encounter at Hotel New Standard in Lal Chowk.

The DGP said that the police jawans who laid down their lives during the encounter have done so for the peace. He added that a police man feels proud when he plays his part in saving the lives of the civilians and that the slain police jawans did the same.
