Is UAW really irrational on health-care costs - DaimlerChrysler's CEO criticized the UAW in Paris auto show.

UAW has to make sure that its hard working members are taken care of in the biggest problem in US economy - the rising healthcare costs but that creates a genuine drag for US automakers.

As China starts producing autos for US and European markets wuth vitually no health care obligaton, it may be difficult for US automakers to compete.

The solution lies probably in protecting US auto market with requirements that foreign companies build autos in US for US markets. That gives some leverage to UAW.
