Office Depot acquiring a controlling stake in AsiaEC - China's one of the leading office supplies dealer. Is it a shrewd move?

As Chinese economy gets ready to plunge in a deep recession, it may the worst move by Office Depot.

The Chinese economy has showed signs of collapsing because of drying of excess liquidity and corruption. Many US retailers have moved into China recently without looking into business cycles.

The possibilities of gaining from AsiaEC is very remote for Office Depot. It is that institutional urge to join the band wagon at the tail end of the boom.
