According to GM's finance chief the alliance possibilities are on track. There were some unconfirmed rumors that after failure of talks with GM, Renault and Nissan are looking towards Ford.

GM never gave up potential alliance with Renault and Nissan - it is just concerned about giving details to media. The statement from GM's chief just confirms that talks are in track and GM's biggest investor Karkorian is facilitating the process.

Some auto think tanks believe, GM can become the most prosperous auto manufacturer in the world after some solid operational and strategic reengineering which include some mega mergers, acquistions and leveraged buy outs.
