The NYSE and Euronext face problems in integrating US and European compliance
Paula Hernandez
Sep. 21, 2006

The NYSE and Euronext plans to merge and looks into the blueprint of the mega merger, they face problems in integrating US and European compliance.

They will create separate U.S. and European entities to ensure that regulators on two continents will retain their independence.

But that will cause compliance complication and oversight mechanisms. US and European compliace is 70% common. But that 30% may become the killer. The players will have to live with two sets of rules, two sets of audits and documentation.

Some say it can eventually become a nightmare.
