The consolidation and cost cutting is just starting. The big pharma has lots of room for the same.Drug company consolidation continues as Merck buys Switzerland’s Serono and Danish niche-player Nycomed buys drugs unit of Altana for €4.5bn.
The biggest surprise will come from big Pharma names as they focus on cutting cost and outsource operations. The toom for consolidation, cost cutting, outsopurcing operations, research and development is so wide that the industry will go through a major precess reengineering.
