Norwegian oil company DNO tested an oil well in Iraq's Kurdish north that showed a flow rate of about 5,000 barrels per day, Gulf News reported Sept. 21. DNO, which expects to begin production in 2007, said its discovery could make other foreign oil producers more interested in the region. DNO is the first foreign firm to drill commercially in Iraq since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.
