HP board used illegal methods to find sources of the leak
Kiran Chaube
Sep. 8, 2006

It was not just the use of a private investigator as reported by some news sources, it goes far beyond. HP board monitored its members, used various means to monitor every one who were interfacing with them and hired people to find the source of the leak by hook or crook.

HP board used illegal methods to obtain phone records of journalists who received leaked information from one of its members. The methods used were unethical at the least and most probably against law.

Shareholders are outraged at the episode. Pension fund managers are up in the arms. The board behaved like a street gang to control its members behaviors according to some experts.

The implication of the unwinding corporate scandal is immense. It is estimated that similar actions are common in the boardroom to control the corporate politics.
