Shoaib Akhtar’s techniques of ball tampering
Kiran Chaube
Sep. 6, 2006

Pakistan teams'' ball tampering schemes are a matter of real controversey. Though nothing can be proved as yet, the allegations and hints of ball tampering are increasing every day.

Shoaib Akhtar’s techniques of ball tampering are unique and are matters of great research, says some experts.

Picking dust off the ball is just one technique. Using lotions hidden in the pocket can be another though no proofs exist.

According to media reports, Sky, which employed 26 cameras, failed to pick any evidence when Australian umpire Darrell Hair charged Pakistan on the fourth day of the Oval test. Pakistan refused to take the field after tea in protest, and were deemed to have forfeited the test.

Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was subsequently charged with ball tampering and bringing the game to disrepute and faced a ban of upto eight ODIs or four tests.
