Media Release
Sep. 3, 2006

Sourav Ganguly was on Sunday once again ignored by the national selectors who did not pick the former Indian captain in the 14-member champions trophy team announced on Sunday despite naming him among the probables.

Kerala seamer S Sreesanth was also left out of the squad for the premier one-day tournament to be played from October 7 to November 5.

Leg-spinner Anil Kumble, who was expected to return the one-day scheme of things until he developed a tendonitis of the shoulder during his county stint for surrey, also did not find a place in the squad announced by BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah after a meeting of the National Selection Committee.

The prestigious biennial event is to be played in four centres at Mumbai, Mohali, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. India open their camping against England at Jaipur on October 15.
