A worst week in the history of modern India – failure in technologies and security infrastructure
It was a week that India will never forget. Who should be blamed for catastrophic failures in science, technology, national pride and the security infrastructure?
First Agni III, India’s national pride – the indigenous solid fuel propellant missile failed to hit the test target due to a technological failure. A similar technical failure caused INSAT IVC to blow up as the rocket exploded in the air. Then came the one of the worst terror attack on India’s financial capital. The terror operators struck Mumbai transporation system with coordinated serial blasts – in the Al-Queda style.
The process of diluting India – the strong independent India proud of its nonaligned status started in late eighties with Rajiv Gandhi and Sam Pitroda meeting corporate executives from the Western nations. India opened the doors to western corporations in the name of globalization. India made its Engineers and Scientists rush towards business schools and become low-end call center operators, information technology cyber coolies performing tasks that software engineers in the Western nations avoid. India ran for dollar and euros. India sold itself out to the Western nations. Indian expatriates popularly known as NRIs stood there with an awe and asked ‘why?’ India was a high drug. The stock market zoomed up to cross 10,000 from 2,000 in less than eighteen months with money from western financial institutions ready to suck the blood of mother India. India was asked to informally join the elite new world order of G-8. The patent law was passed at the cost of millions of poor Indians. Indian farmers started committing suicide like never before. The disparity between haves and have-nots was never as high it is today. India ran like a crazy drugged individual thinking it has gained the elite status of the world.
Little did India know that Security Council seat was never to come? India’s indigenous self-developed nuclear technologies will be clipped in the name of civilian nuclear cooperation deal. India will never gain respect and status of the nuclear club in spite of having world’s best talented nuclear engineers and scientists.
Indian expatriates stood there and watched it hopelessly. They know how it is to live and work in Western nations. You have to be three times as good as the main stream and then you can never reach the elite club any way! Indian politicians and oligarchs took control. Indian middle class ran for quick satisfaction with western style goods and services. Cell phones boomed in India.
Mother India cried silently. She was raped hundreds of years back in the name of East India trading company. History repeats. It is dejavu all over again. Again a few have teamed up with foreign interest to sell India out in the name of privatization, globalization, outsourcing or whatever you want to call it.
In the mean time mother India cries. She is helpless. Again her own sons and daughters have sold her out to foreigners.
The security infrastructure has failed. The technology has failed. Indian Engineers and scientists have become coolies again – cyber coolies servicing information technology body shops.
