Bio-diesel breakthrough in Brazil

Brazil's state-owned oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) said it has developed a new form of biodiesel fuel that will initially alleviate the country's need for imported diesel fuel by nearly 15 percent, Mercopress News reported June 21. Petrobras predicted that production of the new "H-Bio" fuel, which mixes refinery petroleum with various vegetable oils, will begin in 2007 at three different locations throughout the country. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio "Lula" da Silva said that with the new fuel, Brazil will become the "most important country in the world for renewable energy."
