Beating Kenya was easy – what now with Pakistan?

India beat Kenya handsomely. Well it was a warm up match against a team learning to play cricket. The question now is can India really repeat the performance against Pakistan? According to Indian camp, Indian players are eager to reestablish their supremacy and are looking to beat Pakistan and England handsomely.

India began their defence of the Champions Trophy convincingly, beating Kenya by 98 runs. India grabbed three early wickets to leave Kenya on 21-3. First to fall was Kennedy Otieno who was run out as a result of a great throw from Mohammed Kaif. Irfan Pathan took the other two wickets, trapping captain Steve Tikolo lbw and then forcing Hitesh Modi to loft the ball to Sourav Ganguly. Harbhajan Singh produced an excellent spell taking 3 for 31 runs. He struck first in the 18th over to get rid of Ravindu Shah caught behind for 33 runs. Aga was dismissed in his next over. Thomas Odoyo followed suit soon to be caught behind for 15 runs. Maurice Ouma and Brajesh Patel added 92 runs for the seventh wicket stand to wage the fight for Kenya who were tottering at 74 for six. Right arm seamer Ajit Agarkar broke the partnership in the last ball of the second over of his second spell. Ouma was caught behind when he was just one run short of a half century. Patel was unbeaten with 38 runs and Martin Suji 8 as Kenya finished with 192 for seven off 50 overs.
