The Bengali connection: When Saif met Rani HumTum became love!
Saibal Guha, Indiadaily Correspondent from Kolkata
Saif and Rani are feeling for each other ever since HumTum! Rani Mukherjee blushed when answering the question in Mumbai yesterday.
This week’s big ticket film is Yash Raj Films’ Hum Tum , with Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. Here’s what to expect:
This is Saif Ali Khan’s second single hero film this year. Like in his last film, Khan’s character is called Karan in this film too. Here, he plays a cartoonist whose popular strip called Hum Tum , his funny take on how men and women look at things differently.
Rani Mukherjee’s Rhea is an independent young woman, who runs into Karan in the Netherlands. They are two wholly different people – he’s an incorrigible flirt who believes a man and a woman can never be friends. They seem to agree to disagree about almost everything.
Karan and Rhea run into each other shortly again, this time in New York. Their meeting results in Karan losing his girlfriend because of Rhea. The next they meet is almost 10 years later. By now, Rhea has been through quite a bit. But Karan remains a constant fixture in her life.
The film’s outline sounds much like that of Rob Reiner’s When Harry Met Sally (1989) and Woody Allen’s Annie Hall (1977). But director Kunal Kohli ( Mujhse Dosti Karoge ) insists the film is similar, but not a copy of either.
Hum Tum is produced by Yash Raj Films. Jatin-Lalit have scored the music. And the film’s caricatures, which feature in promos, have already created quite a buzz.
Good luck to new romance of Rani and
Saif!
